Muslim Boy Names Tips
Calling a person named “Abdullah”
as “Abdul” or “Abdur Rashid,
Abdur or Rash” or a person named Muhammad,
“Mike” or “Mo” is offensive
of the Divine name of Names of Allah (swt) or
the the prophet Muhammad (pbhu) is disrespectful,
and therefore, it is strictly prohibidden.
According to some scholars, calling Quranic
prophets such as Yusuf (A), ya’qub (A),
Ibrahim (A), Musa (A), and Isa (A) with their
biblical equivalents (Joseph, Jacob, Abraham,
Moses and Jesus respectively) is also objectionable.
History reflects that anglicized names have
put many Arab scholars into obscurity. How
could someone possibly recognize from their
Anglicized names that “saladin”
was in fact Salahuddin al-Ayyubi (the conquerer
of Jerusalem), and
Averoes, Gaber, Avicenna, and Rhazes were
actually the sages and philosophers of the
Muslim world?
